While attending protests in downtown Chicago on Saturday, actor John Cusack said on Twitter that police “came at me with batons” and were hitting his bike as he attempted to film a burning car.

Protests took place nationwide over the weekend, sparked by the deaths of black people at the hands of police, including George Floyd in Minneapolis last week, Louisville, Kentucky EMT Breonna Taylor in March, as well as jogger Ahmaud Arbery, who was shot and killed in February by a former police officer in Georgia.

In a video posted by Cusack, the nighttime footage is blurry but shouts (presumably from law enforcement) are heard in rapid succession: “Get out of here!
