A plurality of Americans feel as though President Biden is dividing the country, despite his original pledge to unify, a Quinnipiac University Poll released this week found.

The survey, taken January 7-10, 2022, among 1,313 adults, asked respondents, “Do you feel that President Biden is doing more to unite the country or is doing more to divide the country?”.

A plurality, 49 percent, said they feel as though Biden is doing more to divide the country, while 42 percent say he is uniting.

Opinions are sharply divided on party lines, as 92 percent of Republicans say Biden is doing more to divide the country, compared to 84 percent of Democrats who say Biden is doing more to unite the country.

Half of independents, however, believe he is doing more to divide the nation.
