Positive COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Peoria area - Peoria Journal Star

The Peoria City/County Health Department said Monday that all three counties reported an additional 170 people who have tested positive.

But the number of people with coronavirus symptoms in one of the four area hospitals increased to 53, which is among the highest reported since the pandemic began.

On Monday, Peoria County alone reported its total number of cases jumped to 1,598, up from 625 on July 10.

In both Tazewell and Peoria counties, the two that release demographic data, people ages 20 to 29 lead the area in the number of positive tests.

Both counties also report the age group with the second highest number of positive tests are people in their 30s.

In Peoria County, roughly 2/3 of the cases, or 1,048, were reported as recovered.
