San Joaquin County Public Health officials have been tracking an outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the Costco meat packaging facility in Tracy since May.

According to notes from the public health nurse, the facility has 600 employees, and for safety of those workers, she documented that the company took the following steps:.

After taking the initial May 4 health report, the county public health nurse emailed the site's general manager, writing, "It sounds like you are doing a great job in keeping your employees safe and in preventing the spread of COVID-19.".

In a health department email exchange between two county public health officials, the county does a final tally of the site's cases, (accounting for an approximate seven-week time period) and it's determined that the Costco meat packaging facility in Tracy saw about a dozen cases.
