NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement about George Floyd's death on Saturday.AP.

and his statement did little to comfort NFL fans on social media.

The NFL Commissioner released a 150-word statement on Twitter on Saturday.

The statement was met with animosity from players, commentators and fans alike.

Social media users were quick to point out that the last paragraph of the statement read as hypocritical when connected to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s longstanding absence from the league, following his non-violent protests during the National Anthem.

Kaepernick famously knelt, with teammates, during the anthem during the 2016 season.

Colin Kaepernick was right.

This NFL statement about black people killed by police never actually mentions the police.

Colin Kaepernick asked the NFL to care about the lives of black people and they banned him from their platform.

Same NFL that blackballed Colin Kaepernick.
