If the east-northeast sky above you is clear, you'll see a partial eclipse which can be recognized by its "slightly dented, deeply crescent shaped, or even ring shaped" appearance, according to Space.

The annular eclipse effect, which is different from a partial eclipse, will be viewable for those living within the northern hemisphere (mostly sections of Canada) and when the eclipse occurs, the moon will be "just 57 hours past apogee, its farthest point from Earth during its orbit," according to the Space report.

All of this is to say that Americans in the right area will see a partial eclipse, which is the more crescent-shaped eclipse, while Canada will instead get the full annular eclipse, which is when the Ring of Fire or Death Star effect will appear.

If you live in the area where the solar eclipse will be viewable, Space has a great list of the max eclipse times for different areas in the applicable regions.
