In a national poll of 1,337 registered voters conducted by The New York Times and Siena College in mid-June, 76% of respondents said they trusted Fauci for "accurate information" about the COVID-19 pandemic compared with just 26% who said they trusted Trump.
About the same time that The Times/Siena College poll was conducted, a Fox News poll conducted from June 13 to 16 showed that voters gave Fauci high approval ratings, with 72% of all respondents and 65% of Republican respondents approving of Fauci's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic compared with only 44% approving of Trump's handling of the crisis. ?
According to FiveThirtyEight's aggregated tracker of polls gauging Trump's approval on the coronavirus, 39% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the pandemic on average compared with 57% who disapprove. .
In the July 8 to 9 version of the poll, however, 67% of respondents disapproved of Trump's handling of the pandemic, while just 33% approved.
