Because some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, it may be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone.

The CDC says it seems COVID-19 spreads more easily than flu and causes more serious illnesses in some people.

It can also take longer before people show symptoms of COVID-19 and people can be contagious for a longer period of time than the flu.

According to the CDC, people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine.

While masked, attend a small, outdoor gathering with fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people, particularly in areas of substantial to high transmission
