Free RATs to be provided and PCR testing to end as South Australia closes in on peak of COVID-19 wave

Half a million COVID-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs) will be handed out in South Australia over the next five weeks, ahead of drive-through PCR testing sites closing in January.

Professor Spurrier said the increase in cases was "really flattening off now" and "getting towards the peak".

"Most of us will be absolutely fine using rapid antigen testing," Professor Spurrier said.

"So really the transition to rapid antigen test for the majority of people and making PCR still eligible for those who really need it is what we're looking to have achieved by early January.".
