Madonna has fired back at critics of her “puffy” Grammys appearance in a scathing Instagram post taking aim at “the glare of ageism and misogyny” society subjects women to.

In a lengthy post shared with her 18.7 million followers, Madonna said it an “honor” to introduce LGBTQ pop superstars Sam Smith and Kim Petras for their performance of Unholy at the event on Monday.

However, it was Madonna’s “unrecognisable” plump and smooth face that stole the show and took the attention away from the “history-making moment” after Petras became the first openly trans person to win a Grammy in the Best Pop Duo/Group Collaboration category with Smith.

“A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
