McCree’s New ‘Overwatch’ Name Revealed (And It’s Not Joel McCloud) - Forbes

McCree is no more in Overwatch.

It’s been a couple of months since Blizzard’s Team 4 said it would change the name of Overwatch hero McCree.

Now, Team 4 has finally revealed what the cowboy hero will be known as from now on.

He’ll be listed as just Cassidy in the Hero Gallery.

Last month, Overwatch community manager Andy Belford shared an update on the McCree renaming project in a Reddit comment, explaining that it was taking a while because there were a number of things to change inside and outside of the game.

If the community can get to grips with balance changes, hero redesigns, new abilities and ultimates and, when Overwatch 2 arrives, new heroes, players can certainly stop calling the cowboy McCree, and call him Cole Cassidy instead.
