A Melbourne man who was told by doctors he was “too young” to have prostate cancer now believes the diagnosis was the best thing that ever happened to him.

“I really just kind of disconnected and it was a real shock (when the diagnosis came through).

“I’d actually lost my dad, about 15 years before that to cancer, not prostate cancer, but pancreatic cancer, so it was devastating.”.

The doctor, while pointing out Ben was too young for prostate cancer, also suggested a PSA test - a blood test primarily used to screen prostate cancer.

“I just said yes straight away.

“It’s not very often that you hear stories of men under 40 being diagnosed with prostate cancer,” he said.

With September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Ben teamed up with Movember to deliver the message to young men?
