Some people are holding out for them to announce an equivalent of Game Pass but even though I think that would be a good idea I really don’t see it happening.

I have to say I find it very hard not to blame Microsoft for the problems with Halo Infinite!

As other readers have pointed out they’ve had five years to work on Halo Infinite and even if they didn’t do a days work after the lockdown started in March I fail to understand how the game can be in this bad a state this close to their intended launch.

Sure, they’ve fixed it now but, as usual with games companies, they seem to have learnt nothing from that when making Halo Infinite?

I don’t know what incentive there is now for anyone to buy the Xbox Series X, especially as they still haven’t shown us anything remotely close to proof that it is the most powerful console.

Don’t think I’ve played a game with permadeath (other than XCOM) so not sure if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick regarding the new mode in The Last Of Us Part 2.

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix are not interested in rebooting the game as they want to move away from it and concentrate on the games they’ve been releasing and moving it on.

Trust me, if they were ever to make a reboot of the game in the franchise it should be the games that were very poor in gameplay, such as Tomb Raider Chronicles, etc?

Got a feeling the day the Xbox Series X is coming out is 7 November?

It’s delayed till 2021, what’s the point of the Xbox coming out this year.

They should delay it till Halo Infinite is ready but they will never do that.

I mean Sony would have a good six months head start and we all know what happened to Sony in the PlayStation 3 days when they did a staged launch, Xbox 360 smashed them.

Regarding the next gen consoles, I was already needing a reason to be an early adopter, and that would have to have been the games available at launch.

For once I’m more than happy to wait and see how the new Halo turns out and look at the Xbox then, when Microsoft, most likely, do a relaunch to coincide with the release of the game.

Of course there could be further revelations to come, as I wouldn’t trust Phil Spencer to organise a heavy drinking session in a brewery, and I think after the launch of the Xbox Series X he needs to resign as I can’t see what improvements he’s ushered in at all, but I will probably still buy a Xbox Series X… and even as I type that I can’t help thinking back to my purchases of the PS Vita, Wii U, or even the 3DS at launch – which while occasionally enjoyable were mostly less than stellar decisions

But saying that, as I was wanting to replace my Xbox One with the Xbox One X earlier in the year and never got round to it, I may as well buy an Xbox Series X instead

Halo Infinite was one of the games I was looking forward to this year but not as much as Cyberpunk 2077, so to play that on a machine that will make the current gen version perform the best it could still be worth it

Game Pass is another incentive but to be fair I find myself going ‘game blind’ when looking at the selection and spend more time procrastinating than playing

I wonder if Xbox Series X and Microsoft Studios will give us a Halo Wars 3 which would be done right in a way to offer healthy competition to EA’s Command & Conquer series

As long as it’s still an active franchise, that has had a recent new entry this gen, it doesn’t matter whether it’s been announced yet or not, so feel free to make assumptions about what will eventually be coming to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5
