TV presenter Richard Hammond sold his beloved 1998 Ferrari to move back to rural Gloucestershire after “feeling silly” and out of place days after relocating his family to be closer to Top Gear studios in London.

"I wanted us to be together as a family, so we decided, 'Right, there's nothing for it, we're living in a rented house.

But he said although the new house was “very smart” , had room for his six cars and nearer to work and he quickly realised it wasn't right for the couple and their daughters Willow, now 16, and Isabella, now 19, at that time.

According to the Daily Express he still remembers the last time he drove the Ferrari was in the lashing rain to the rented house in Buckinghamshire.

“The guy I rented the house from in Penn held me to six months of rent, which amounted to what this was worth," he said referring to the car.

"I had to sell it to pay the rent on a house I wasn't living in.

At the time he was living near Redmarley, a rural village off the A417 between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucestershire and a few miles from where he lives now
