Sony Bosses Want PS5 Event to Be as Professional as Possible, Multiple Shows Were Apparently Refused Earlier This Year - Push Square

At this point we all know that the coronavirus has buggered everything up for just about everyone -- Sony and the games industry included.

But it's still interesting to hear that Sony had initially planned for multiple PlayStation 5 presentations earlier this year, only to have higher-ups in the company refuse them.

Pearce says: "Sony has tried to do presentations already this year, and I know this from developers who were supposed to be part of those presentations, but didn't because for some reason, somewhere in the Sony hierarchy they were very obsessed with the idea of having a very, very professional stream, rather than something previously recorded.".

Pearce continues: "So they weren't willing to do anything outside of a massive studio with a crew of like, 25 to 30 people?

So I feel like maybe this is actually going to be huge."?

In short, it sounds like Sony wants this incoming PS5 event to be as professional as possible, ensuring the kind of quality that you'd expect from a presentation of this magnitude?

Indeed, we don't doubt that the Japanese giant could have put on a number of shows already as Pearce says -- it's just that the company clearly wants to get this right!

Sony, No one wants PS5, where is PS Vita 2.

that sounds like E3 type of crap.

Good, that xbox event is pretty bad and unprofessional, sony have to do better than that.

I don’t care if Sony does the ps5 event in someone garage I just want some ps5 news soon because I’m dying of hype right now.

With Sony it's the complete opposite.

If it's actually true then our one week notice came from a Bloomberg rumor.

With such a largely anticipated reveal I would assume you would want to give people as much warning as possible.

Sony just needs to figure out a better way to communicate it to us.

I understand that some people might don’t have the funds on hand right now to buy the console If Sony just reveal the console randomly but Sony did give people somewhat of a warming with saying they will show off the ps5 games line up soon.

People work on Playstation is like an Executive with ties and suit, while Xbox employee is like coboy and hip hop rapper.

For a time, Sony were terrific at showmanship when it came to these presentations, and I thought they lost that with the State of Plays.

@4kgk2 I'm glad of the possibility to see the PS5, I just don't think the build up to it is the best way to go.

It's around the same time table as E3 would have been and like you mentioned it gives enough time before launch for people to save up.

I think we should have already received an official statement from Sony if the event was happening within the week.

Now we keep seeing the "maybe it's next week" posts.

Since we don't have E3 to lean back on this time and Sony is remaining quite people keep looking for the rumors to hold them over.

I just think it's not a good thing.

Well this seems a bit selfish and irresponsible of Sony to say the least, not because of wanting to make a professional presentation, but the fact that means people travelling to a studio and working together whilst countries are in lockdown, I hope they do t expect devs to fly in to the studios location.?

Sure they got in first, really, but Sony has time and expectations on their side

It's obvious that they have quite a lot of faith in the console, regardless of the flop counts (ugh)

@Tharsman professional as in production costs

It's available tomorrow

Granted, the Microsoft one had its 'cringe' moments with people in different areas and Cerny did do their GDC presentation

Its possible the next presentation may not be a full professional presentation but that Sony have decided to actually get 'some' information out

Its very easy to make a 'professional' voice over without needing expensive Cameras and a film crew to film the same script read on a stage in front of an 'audience' (fake or real) and it doesn't take a full film crew to film the console/controller - people would be happy with a few 'stills' of the console from different angles - inc the back

It could still look very professional without the need to be a full on presentation on a stage..

If the PS5 is running a similar setup to Xbox but the Microsoft made a shell with near silent cooling in mind and the PS5 was originally going to look something like the Dev kit i suspect it would be jet engine vs water cooled PC is the dB department and we now how many people hate the PS4 Pro fan noise

It's rather wEiRd
