Alabama added more new coronavirus cases Friday than in any other day without a backlog since the pandemic began, and saw its 7-day average for new cases rise past 3,000 for the first time.

Alabama’s 7-day average for new cases now stands at 3,046 cases per day.

ADPH reported 3,840 new cases on Friday, along with 55 deaths.

No county added more than six deaths Friday, but 27 counties reported at least one death.

Nearly 600 new cases were reported there Friday, and the 7-day average in Jefferson stands at 481 cases per day - the highest any Alabama county has seen since the start of the pandemic.

Madison County, home of Huntsville, was second in the state with 306 cases Friday.
