An additional 129,755 coronavirus vaccine doses were administered in Illinois on Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 7,612,405, public health officials reported Thursday.

Officials reported 3,581 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 40 additional fatalities, contributing to a statewide death toll of 21,609.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a share of total tests is 4.2% as of Wednesday.

The state on Thursday reported 94 additional cases of the coronavirus variant that was first seen in the United Kingdom for a total of 888.

Officials also reported 53 additional cases of the variant first seen in Brazil for a total of 217, three additional cases of the variant first seen in California for a total of 83 and two additional cases of the variant first seen in South Africa for a total of 15.
