Q4 FY2020 iPhone sales in China fell very hard.

However, part of it is temporary due to the late iPhone 12 launch.

There's another significant factor emerging which will favor iPhone sales in China in the near future.

I’ve been tracking the Apple (AAPL) iPhone sales in China for a while, using CIACI’s (China Information And Communication Institute) monthly reports on smartphone shipments.

This article presents how things evolved in China for the iPhone during Apple’s Q4 FY2020.

The iPhone hasn’t recently done well in China, but between the iPhone SE and coronavirus, the iPhone worldwide managed to climb all the way to unchanged (+1%) in sales.

Hence, if the iPhone is doing badly in China, it must be doing well elsewhere.

As a result, Huawei sales suffered heavily outside of China.

sanctions, and thus iPhone sales in China were weaker.

Q4 FY2020 was a very weak quarter for the iPhone in China.

This can be explained by the late iPhone 21 launch, but still it does represent an aggressive drop.

The iPhone should now enjoy a bump from the late iPhone 12 launch.

In overall terms, the next few months favor large year-on-year iPhone 12 sales gains in China.
