In a new study, astronomers used data from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope to calculate a more accurate distance to an ultra-diffuse galaxy called NGC 1052-DF2 (DF2 for short).
This Hubble image shows NGC 1052-DF2, an ultra-diffuse galaxy located 72 million light-years away in the constellation of Cetus.
The new distance estimate is that DF2 is 72 million light-years away as opposed to 42 million light-years, as reported by other teams.
This places the galaxy farther than the original Hubble 2018 estimate of 65 million light-years distance.
