A wildfire burning in the Los Padres National Forest in Monterey County near Big Sur stood at 2,392 acres on June 20, 2021.

The Willow Fire started the evening of June 17 and on Sunday evening it was 2,392 acres with zero containment and evacuations remain in place, according to the incident report from the U.S.

The Willow Fire started at 8:10 p.m.

on June 17, 2021, and is northwest of the Arroyo Seco Recreation Area close to the Tassajara Zen Center. .

"The trajectory of the transport shows the smoke from the Willow Fire drifting north toward the Bay Area today," said Matt Mehle, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

The Willow Fire in Big Sur emitted a massive pyrocumulus cloud on June 18, 2021, and it was visible from Carmel Valley where this photo was taken.
