Coronavirus: Orange County reports 558 new cases and 2 new deaths as of Aug. 2 - OCRegister

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 558 new cases of the coronavirus as of Sunday, August 2.

The cumulative total number of positive cases for Orange County is at least 37,391 since local testing began in March.

There were 2 new deaths reported in Orange County on Sunday, bringing the total number of residents who have died to 651.

The state’s coronavirus dashboard reports there have been 149 deaths in Orange County in the last 14 days.

According to the California Department of Health, there have been at least 7,100 new cases of COVID-19 in Orange County in the last 14 days.

The state agency also reports 618 hospitalized patients in the last 14 days (suspected and positive) in 33 hospitals reporting across the county as of Saturday.

The state’s coronavirus-tracking dashboard shows Orange County had at least 34% of its ICU beds available on Friday.
