Erie County Sets Record, Single-Day Increase of 42 New Coronavirus Cases Tuesday - erienewsnow.com

Erie County is reporting 42 new positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and two new deaths, according to county officials. This is a record, single-day increase in cases.

Since Monday in Erie County, 17 more nursing/long-term care home residents have tested positive for the virus, while five more cases were reported in employees at the facilities.

A total of 18 facilities in Erie County have reported coronavirus cases with 115 total cases in residents, 90 total cases in employees and 18 total deaths.

The total number of cases in Erie County is 1,025, with 794 recovered cases, 206 active cases, 17,966 negatives and 25 deaths.

However, the state is reporting 17 deaths for Erie County. The county uses NEDDS for its data, while the state pulls its death numbers from EDRS, creating the discrepancy.

Crawford County's total number of positive cases increased by one to 133, while Warren County added one new cases for a total of 20.

Allegheny County is reporting an increase of 132 cases, and Philadelphia County saw 131 more positives.

In all, there are 854 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, increasing the total to 115,009 cases as of midnight Tuesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Approximately 76 percent of positive cases have recovered.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 19,694 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,024 cases among employees, for a total of 23,718 at 860 different facilities in 61 counties.
