Florida has conducted nearly 5.3 million COVID-19 tests since the first omicron case in the state was confirmed Dec.

Federal health officials have approved two types of tests to track COVID-19: Rapid antigen tests are less precise but produce results within minutes.

Antigen tests accounted for 10 to 15 percent of all reported tests in Iowa and Missouri over the past three months, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.

In Utah, antigen tests accounted for over 30 percent of tests and in Arizona it’s nearly 40 percent.

That’s because the characteristics of people using antigen tests may not be the same as those using PCR tests, Salemi said.
