Former Alabama football quarterback Jay Barker, who married country music star Sara Evans, was arrested early Saturday and charged with felony assault, according to Davidson County (Tenn.) Sheriff's Office records, after allegedly attempting to hit two people with his car around 1:30 a.m.
Cassandra Stephenson of the Nashville (Tenn.) Tennessean reported that the arrest affidavit states that Barker reversed his vehicle “at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed” as the two people were pulling into a driveway at a nearby home after leaving a party.
The affidavit states police were contacted by the two people in the car after Barker drove away.
"We were just competitors," Barker told BamaOnline in 2018.
"We all hated to lose.
I think we hated to lose more than just winning itself, whether it was playing dominoes or cards, playing pickup basketball in the offseason.
I mean it was just we were a very competitive group that just hated to lose, loved each other.
