Nintendo Gives Us A Look At The Switch Box Art For Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - Nintendo Life

There's been a lot of information shared about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD since its big reveal last week, but one thing you might have seen just yet is the game's Switch box art?

We've also got a look at the packaging for the Joy-Con, themed after the Master Sword and Hylian Shield.

Skyward Sword HD arrives on Switch on 16th July.

When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games.

@Anti-Matter For me, it's the opposite.

This is my least favorite game in the series, and it's really nothing but an over-priced wii port.

Why do people want the Zelda Themed Joycons or any when Nintendo have yet to fix the drift.

@Porky Well the alternative to getting them fixed/replaced is to just put up with drift or use crappy third party controllers so it's still the best option.

That "Skyward Sword" font does look a bit shovelware-eske.

@VoidofLight I just think zelda looks freaky in this game, would have loved if it was a wind waker port.

(And shut up I know wind waker got ported to the wii u but I'm talking about a port on the switch not a remake on the switch.).

@PhilKenSebben I actually like the directional buttons on the Joy-Con though and any that don't have wireless functionality aren't good enough for me.

@Miu I don't think I could bare attaching something as ugly as the Split Pad Pro to my Switch.

(Not that boring ambient crap from BOTW) Oh and it's got wait for it....actual Dungeons.

Loved botw ( the only Zelda game I ever played), not sure if I should get this someday, been wanting to try other games in the series.

A bad Zelda game is still better than most other stuff, and that said, I very much enjoyed it.

I can't believe they're charging such a high price for one port.

Like others, I think Nintendo ought to be discounting the price or releasing an 'all stars'-esque bundle for this price.

It's a weird logic, that kinda implies they believe that the first copy of a game should be full price, but all the subsequent copies thereafter should be next to nothing, because a machine is making them.

Honestly, some folk need to be a little less snobbish (I'm convinced the people moaning are the people worried it will depreciate their copy of the original - it's their retirement lol) and appreciate how much a game is worth.

It still holds it's value.

If you already played it, or own it and don't think it's worth 60, then that is to you.

We've had our Switch a year, our left joycon has been back twice for repairs!

Yay, another overpriced Nintendo game.

I do want those limited edition Skyward Sword Joy-cons.

you've gotta get all fancy n' Shmancy' and arch your thumb up like a princess.

I'm really pleased that it's getting a re-release!

Not because of the price, or anything else deemed sinister from the pessimists/bokoblins, but purely because I still own it on Wii.

That being said, I am pleased that Nintendo have implemented a standard controller option on the Switch version for those that don't dig motion controls.

This can only broaden the appeal of such a great game.

I may be totally wrong, but I don't think they ever reused artworks for any HD, 3D or remake of a Zelda rerelease.

I hope they joy-cons are actually available in stores/online and not all scalped to 3x the price though.

But regardless of that the game will be pure Zelda goodness, and will be something special to enjoy during Zelda's 35th Anniversary.

Great way to describe them, I can picture them jumping up and down and pointing like I just grabbed their boko club away from them.

I feel like fi should be looking to the left like how Ghirahim is looking to the right.

@GrailUK I think it's up to people to decide if something is overpriced to them.

But whether it's objectively overpriced or not will be decided by the market!

What irks me a little more is that it is an HD remaster with improvements and not just a port like some claim.

Manufacturing has shifted to Switch.

They didn’t have to update to HD and add controls to charge full price, but they did.

@Lagster_YT Start with 'A Link to the Past' and see if you enjoy the formula, because the 3D games largely took their cues from that game; find item, use item in area you previously couldn't traverse, find different item inside temple, use it to kill boss, use story progression to unlock new area, find item, etc...

But honestly, starting with the first real masterpiece in the series and playing them all in order is unlike any other gaming experience, and if you love BOTW, it's like playing through the design stepping stones Nintendo took to get to that game.

Fingers crossed they all come to Switch.

@Porky own 2 pairs of joy cons since switch launch day.

Regarding the price I'll just copy my comment from a different thread :?

Nintendo games releasing for full price and never going down is 50% Nintendo stubbornness and 50% supply and demand.

If I look at the Top 20 best selling games in December for my region I see two PS-exclusives (Miles Morales at 13 and Last of Us 2 at 20) and 10(!) Nintendo exclusives.

Half of them are over one year old, Mario Kart is on 2, Breath of the Wild on 16 and Odyssey on 19, despite selling for full price and beeing almost four years old.

The rest are recently released multi platform games like AC Valhalla, Call of Duty and Cyberpunk.

Your typical AAA game sells really well for two or three months and then sales drop significantly and they go down in price.

Nintendo games on the other hand keep selling well for months and years.

Reducing the price would probably not significantly increase sales.

Wii pointer controls are superior in Mario Galaxy or other ports from Wii like World of Goo, but Skyward Sword never used them, even on the Wii you had to recenter from time to time.

color is like botw cover.

I'd say Ocarina, Wind Waker or Twilight Princess are safer games to try after botw, but you might enjoy Skyward Sword.

The original was already great and since these games usually stick to a gold background it felt consistent, not using gold here makes it feel modern, I guess because BOTW doesn't use it either.

Perhaps they never played the game.Nintendo games don’t drop in value so even picking up the wii game won’t be cheap and the switch game won’t get discounted soon so I might as well by it at launch.

However I equally understand the thought process that capcom remade resident evil 2 and 3 for the same price.

Sony remade demon souls for the same price.

Activision remastered banjo kazoie, Spyro and Tony hawk then put it in a collection for the same price.

Even by Nintendo’s own standards the twilight princess port came with an amiibo and more recently Nintendo put three of their classics on one game and charged the same price.

If we all pay full price for this then what motivation does Nintendo have to not charge us full price for every port going forward.

Why would Nintendo release a Zelda collection of three games for the same price shortly after they find out that they could simply sell them individually and make three times the money.

Will Nintendo repackage the alleged Metroid trilogy and simply release the games individually.

Does buying these games at this price encourage more ports with little changes at full price at the expense of new game development.

Does selling these games at such a high price make Nintendo think twice about implementing backwards compatibility into their next system.

Even though it's not representative of most classic Zelda games, it has a great story and you'll find its gameplay to be quite unique.

I would also recommend Link's Awakening on the Switch.

You're already missing out if Breath of the Wild is the only Zelda game you've played.

I think it's nice the cover art doesn't spoil Demise.

complaining about 60 bucks for a great game, but they do not mind pay 70 bucks for a 5 hour demo , Spiderman miles Morales

REAL GAMERS CAN PAY 60 BUCKS FOR A FULL GREAT GAME

LIKE SKYEARD SWORD AND MARIO 3D WORLD BOWSERS FURY

Could you stop accusing someone who have no interest with specific Nintendo games as Sony Ponies

Just because i have no interest with Zelda games it doesn't mean i do not support Nintendo

I play other Nintendo games as well such as ACNH, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, etc but not interested with Zelda games

It's totally fine, everyone have their own interest

Please stop that, it's making other users uncomfortable

I would like to say that generally I like to think optimistically but Nintendos practices has really taken a toll on how I view their business practices despite loving their games

@michellelynn0976 see, it's that, you keep going with the comments

i not gonna spent $60(R$300 here in Brazil)in a port of Skyward Sword that barely have a visual upgrade and gameplay improvements like Nintendo did with the remaster of Wind Waker e Twilight Princess, i gonna spent $60(R$300)in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, i not a idiot to spent money in a overpriced port that barely have a visual upgrade and gameplay improvements like Wind Waker HD e Twilight Princess HD did

Meanwhile there's people who've never had a Nintendo system before, have a Switch in front of them, have the money and can't be arsed to piss about on the 2nd hand market getting the bits necessary to play Skyward Sword

I like my wii version better because its the shiny gold cover

I'm sure Nintendo make those decisions on a game by game basis

Such a great campaign full of colour and variety in gameplay, and it feels like a Zelda game
