South Dakota added more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for the first time on Friday morning, along with nine more deaths, according to data released by the South Dakota Department of Health.

In total, 1,185 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, breaking the daily record set on Thursday when the state reported 973 new cases.

Three of the deaths reported were people 80+ years of age, five were people between 70-79 years of age and one was a person between 50-59 years of age.

There have been 356 people killed by the disease in South Dakota.

COVID-19 patients are occupying 13.2% of staffed hospital beds and 24.9% of staffed ICU beds

Non-COVID-19 patients are occupying just over 52% of staffed hospital beds and about 43% of staffed ICU beds
