Maverick has also earned more than $1 billion at the global box office and become the highest-grossing movie of 2022 at the worldwide box office ahead of both Jurassic World: Dominion and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

It also became the first film to pass $1 billion since Spider-Man: No Way Home earned $1.9 billion in ticket sales last year.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Maverick takes place decades after the events of the first film.
