There were 476 new coronavirus infections and six deaths related to COVID-19 reported Saturday through Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health and Social Services.

The six deaths were all identified through reviews of death certificates over the past several months, the state health department said Tuesday.

State health officials also said a previously reported death of an Anchorage resident was removed from the tally of Alaskan COVID-19 deaths “upon final review of the death certificate.”.

In total, 285 Alaskans and two nonresidents with COVID-19 have died since the pandemic reached the state in March.

By Tuesday, there were 28 people with COVID-19 in hospitals throughout the state, including two who were on ventilators.

The COVID-19 vaccine reached Alaska in mid-December.

Among Alaskans 16 and older, 22.7% had received at least one dose of vaccine by Tuesday.

Health care workers and nursing home staff and residents were the first people prioritized to receive the vaccine.

While people might get tested more than once, each case reported by the state health department represents only one person
