Walking 10,000 steps every day is the key to losing half a kilo (1.1 pounds) a week, a leading fitness coach has claimed.

Just walk more and you'll lose up to 1lb or 0.45kg a week,' Vikki said in a viral TikTok video that has been viewed nearly one million times.

The fitness influencer added on her Instagram page: 'The easiest way to lose fat is through NEAT — non-exercise activity thermogenesis.'

Normal everyday movement requires energy, so without endless intense bouts of exercise we can still move and burn calories without knackering ourselves out.

Finally, the fitness influencer said it's a good idea to do some resistance training — which involves using your own body weight or dumbells — between three and five times a week.

Complete a consistent training routine every week to increase muscle, improve posture and stability and reduce chances of injury.'
