Federal health officials keep pushing for more Americans to get vaccinated as the delta variant accounts for a bigger share of new cases in the United States.The variant, first detected by scientists in India, has now spread to more than 80 countries and accounts for more than 10% of new cases in the U.S.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently designated the delta variant as a variant of concern "based on mounting evidence that the delta variant spreads more easily and causes more severe cases when compared to other variants, including B.1.1.7 (Alpha).".
