Not yet in full wristwatch construction territory, LeCoultre created the caliber in Le Sentier, Switzerland and had the bracelet and finishing parts assembled by Jaeger in Paris, (then known for designing and manufacturing cases for big maisons like Cartier).

Created in 1940 as a response to the heightened demand for wristwatches, the Triple Calendar was made as a shrunken down display of a complication typically reserved for pocket watches – a much easier feat given the roomier dial.

From the very delicate shellac (natural glue) made by Southeast Asian butterflies used to fix the synthetic ruby pallets to the levers, to the miniature enamel painting, all the way to the restoration of oxidized watch hands.

There are of course a few additional JLC start-to-finish hall-of-fame items: the Caliber 101 worn by the Queen of England and the Atmos clock with its special collaborative designs carried out by the likes of Marc Newson and Hermès.

The curated capsule will of course serve watch enthusiasts, giving them the chance to purchase sought-after vintage models that have been fully vetted and restored by Jaeger LeCoultre.

It will also give JLC the opportunity to bring these pieces back into the wider conversation at a time when watches are quite literally everywhere, now piquing the interests of a younger generation on platforms like TikTok and Discord.
