Resident Evil Fans Muster Up Hope for Ports of Classic PS1 Titles - Push Square

Capcom will be hosting the Resident Evil Showcase later this week, and fans of the horror franchise have only gone and got their knickers in a twist over the prospect of the three classic PlayStation 1 games being ported to modern consoles.

Well, all except Resident Evil 0.

Thanks to some interesting differentiators between the original games and the videos Capcom have posted to Twitter though, some fans reckon we're about to get ports of the original PS1 versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

For example, the video from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis below features a much longer inventory section as well as the 25th-anniversary badge in the bottom-right corner.

Due to the way Capcom had gone about counting down to the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase, supporters thought the developer would maybe announce ports for the three classic games.

They encountered a bit of a roadblock yesterday, however, as the countdown continued with Resident Evil 4.

It would correctly line up with a Resident Evil Village reveal this Thursday, after all.

I'm ready for a remake of Resident Evil 2 remake.

Am I crazy, or is 2 the best one of the classic games.

I reckon I’d probably just play the Vita versions if I’m going to play the original trilogy.

I know i mean its 2 many residents evils.remakes.i already got resident evil collection.so what you saying🤔.resident evil 8.capcom is stuck on resident evil too much.we already got resident evil as a remaster.word up son.

I think it's more likely we might see something for switch than ports of the old games on ps4/5 tbh.

Resident Evil 2 + 3 on PS1 are different games compared to the PS4 remakes.

No more ports just new games please.

I don't think they'd already tease a remake of 4 before 8 is even out.

RE 2 Remake is also the best out of all the modern RE games.

I'm playing 3 remake atm and it's completely inferior.

I’d like to see Dino Crisis remake?

I played all of the original versions of each game and their respective remakes and, in my oppinion, RE2 is the Best classic Resident Evil game, followed by RE1 remake and RE Code Veronica.

Even in the remake departement 2 is better than 3.

Heck, the original version of RE3 on PS1 is better than the remake version on PS4, because of cut content and lack of the Mercenaries mode.

But if they want to keep doing remakes, then please Capcom, give us RE Code Veronica remake and even better, give us Dino Crisis remake.

But NO ports or remasters.

That´s just lazy and not exciting at all.

Just my two cents.

They did say there will be multiple announcements, but I highly doubt they'd bother porting the original games to modern systems/pc.

Seems like it'd just be a waste of resources for games that most younger generations would find unplayable because of the tank controls.

Obviously we're getting some RE8 news, hopefully a release date, but all I'm hoping for past that is that maybe the new multiplayer title is a return to Outbreak and if they are doing another remake that it's NOT RE4.

I'd love to see them port the OG Resident Evil 1 for once, I honestly find that version a lot more fun to play than the remake

I understand its about having the possibility to experience / buy these games, but there are way better options then just a re-release and charge 20 euro for it, like SE did with several FF's

@WizzNL What I'm saying is that there's no real difference between a PS4/PS5 port of a Resident Evil game being put on PS Now and then on PS Store

Why would you restrict the game to just PS Now

There is nothing i want less than ports of ps1 games that have had superior remakes over the last two decades

I'd love to see the original trilogy available on modern consoles, these are still great games and all quite different from their respective remakes

The original Resident Evil 2 is still a brilliant game and the only negative about its remake is how its various scenarios were stripped down

We have so much resident evil already

@Royalblues 2 is an actual Resident Evil mainline game and so is Code Veronica

3 was a side entry that came to PlayStation as if it was the 3rd game in the series

I can't remember why but I remember it having something to do with Capcom being contracted to make 3 games for Playstation, and something along the lines of them not wanting to release Code Veronica (The original 3rd game) on Playstation

I would love to see the original PS1 versions of 1,2 & 3 included in a RE: Classic Trilogy collection with the following changes on PS5 >
