Keep your eyes to the sky late Tuesday and early Wednesday: You might get to see the peak of the Orionids, the best meteor shower of the fall.

There will be shooting stars, and plenty of them with the peak of the Orionid meteor shower.

Keep your eyes to the sky late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning: You might get to see the peak of the Orionids, the best meteor shower of the fall.

The annual Orionid meteor shower will reach its climax in the early hours of Wednesday morning, featuring around 20 meteors per hour across much of the globe, AccuWeather said.

Overall, “the Orionids are a medium strength shower that sometimes reaches high strength activity,” the American Meteor Society reports.

The strength of this shower has been varying from year to year and sometimes has several peaks across several days near the expected peak, according to the International Meteor Organization. And there is some evidence that a larger than usual peak may occur sometime between 2020 and 2022, NASA said

The comet responsible for the annual Orionids is one of the most famous comets: Halley’s Comet, which last passed through the inner solar system in 1986.
