The research published in the journal Journal of the American College of Cardiology, led by scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, showed that people who have survived cancer are at a 42% higher risk of cardiovascular disease than people with no history of cancer.

However, the study found no increased risk of coronary heart disease in those with a history of cancer, compared to people with no history of cancer.

“Cancer” is an umbrella term for broadly 200 different types of malignant disease and the researchers found that the risk of cardiovascular disease was higher in survivors of certain types of cancer than others.
