New South Wales Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty says there have been COVID-19 outbreaks in two aged care facilities and one disability home after the state recorded 124 new COVID-19 cases.

Dr McAnulty said the facilities include The Palms Aged Care facility in Kirrawee, where an unvaccinated staff member tested positive, and the Japara Corymbia facility in Belrose where two staff members tested positive.

He said there have also been five people at Unisson Disability group home in Parklea who have tested positive, including three residents and two staff members.

A Sydney aged care home is in lockdown after a staff member tested positive to Covid-19.

The nurse from The Palms Aged Care home in Kirrawee was diagnosed with the virus on Tuesday night, sending the facility into lockdown.

The Palms nursing home in Sydney's south has been thrust into full lockdown after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Dr McAnulty told reporters on Thursday two staff members at an aged care facility in Belrose had also tested positive, as did five others - two staff members and three residents - at Unisson Disability Parklea group home.

Those at the disability home had received at least one vaccine dose, unlike the staff at the aged care centre.
