Rumour: Unannounced Splinter Cell Game Will Be Open World - Push Square

Hot on the heels of his Assasin's Creed Valhalla DLC claims, online tipster Tom Henderson has potentially shared a look behind the curtain of another Ubisoft title: the currently unannounced Splinter Cell game.

Instead of shoehorning protagonist Sam Fisher into every other one of its IPs, Ubisoft is reportedly reviving the stealth series.

And according to Henderson, the new entry will be open world in the same way that Halo Infinite is?

Henderson reckons this new Splinter Cell title will have a similar structure, stating it'll be "a more stealthy version of Assassin's Creed".

It certainly sounds like Henderson knows a thing or two, so maybe Ubisoft really is planning on an open world Splinter Cell title.

I’m not sure Ubisoft know how to make games without an open world.

I'd prefer large, open-ended levels like Hitman but you can definitely still make this work in open world as well.

Except Kojima's team actually put some effort into polishing their games and having a very well drawn out gameplay that can actually support these big, lengthy open world games?

I have wanted an open world Splinter Cell since playing Ghost Recon Wildlands.

@get2sammyb dunno if I'd call another Ubisoft open world 'exciting stuff'.

I dunno, I'm trying not to be cynical but when every game from a studio is the same bland paste with different food colouring, it's hard not to be cynical.

But the open world itself didn't really add a lot to it and the world itself was a bit dull imo.

You see an open world SC could actually be amazing if they designed it like MGSV what used its open world perfectly so do it like that but with a SC twist and it could be brilliant but its Ubi who like all their games to play alike, like all their games to be live services and love their open worlds to be huge with tons and tons of filler, i'm fine with AC and FC being like those things but i don't want a SC game to be like that.

Don't expect anything in the ball park of Chaos Theory, or even Black List - that Ubisoft ship sailed long ago.

Maybe just maybe Ubi don't make games for you in mind
