Aaron Rodgers remains upset the Packers cut Jake Kumerow - NBC Sports

When the Packers cut Jake Kumerow before the start of the 2020 season, we noted that it came just a day after Aaron Rodgers referred to Kumerow as a lock to make the roster.

In fact, there have been multiple reports this week that Rodgers remains upset that the Packers cut Kumerow, and that the roster move is one of the main reasons Rodgers is so bitter toward General Manager Brian Gutekunst that he no longer wants to play for the Packers.

After the Packers got rid of Kumerow, the Bills picked him up.

After all, Kumerow spent most of the season on the Bills’ practice squad, not their active roster, and in January he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Kumerow is back with the Bills now, but he’s no lock to make their roster in 2021.

Kumerow is a wide receiver who has never caught more than 12 passes in a season.

Gutekunst cutting Kumerow is hardly akin to Bill O’Brien trading DeAndre Hopkins away.

But Rodgers liked Kumerow, and Rodgers felt he had earned the right to have the Packers consider his feelings when deciding who he’d be throwing to — just as the Buccaneers made Tom Brady happy by acquiring Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown.

Rodgers didn’t get that kind of consideration, and he’s not happy about it.

Hey Aaron, Tom has 7 SB victories…..you have 1…just like a whole bunch of other guys.

I Rogers thought Kumerow was getting better and he could target him, the man would now probably be a lot better now, than a practice squad player.

I’m not a big Gutekunst fan but Kumerow just wasn’t worth keeping.

Jake Kumerow.

Of course AR shouldn’t get to make decisions, but cutting the guy the day after Rodgers went to bat for him was a clear and obvious message.

Rodgers didn’t like it, nor did a lot of Packer fans?

If he liked him that much why didn’t he throw to him more often.

So its not like GB cut Kumerow becasue he was good.

He is going to show up and play for the Packers as his friends on the team are counting on him as well.

Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, and Jake Kumerow.

Seems like a disgruntled Aaron Rodgers is an inconsolable Aaron Rodgers.

When Aaron buys the Packers he can make all the decisions?

Until then, he is just along for the ride, like the rest of the players.

Brown, Darrius Shepherd, Malik Taylor or really any of the other receivers they’ve had not named Adams in the last few years and it didn’t stop them from keeping them?

“When the Packers cut Jake Kumerow before the start of the 2020 season, we noted that it came just a day after Aaron Rodgers referred to Kumerow as a lock to make the roster”.

Were the Packers supposed to keep a lesser player than what they already had simply because he is Rodgers buddy.

And Brett Favre was upset the Packers didn’t trade for WR Randy Moss.

The Packers forced a break-up.

The Packers literally ran to the table with his last extension!

Kinda just like they did with Favre.

If Rodgers is looking for a team who will never do anything he doesn’t like then he’s never going to play another down again.

I get why he didn’t like some of these moves but for the most part the Packers have bent over backwards over the years paying him top dollar.

Somewhere Hue Jackson is like “Wait…the Browns told me cutting players after I told the media how much I wanted them on the roster was just how the NFL does business?”.

Is there any evidence that proves, or even suggests, the Packers didn’t consider his request.

Aaron’s made that the Packers cut a guy who has been cut numerous time and currently on a reserve/futures contract.

mr rodgers, sounds like you need to retire and become a GM, kind of like elway in denver.

Looks like he’s willing to end his career on principle.

This was just one of them.

When Rodgers went to bat for JK, the Packers cut him.

The Packers operate like they don’t actually have a good QB.

I did research Jake Kumerow on the internet.

Jake may be a great guy and good friend to Rodgers but not sure that should guarantee him a spot on an NFL roster.

This one sounds like one that management is floating to make him seem unreasonable and crazy, which is definitely true about Rodgers, but I highly doubt he’s seething over this guy getting cut.

Move on packers better a year early then a year late

I get why people are giving AR a hard time, but packers fans you will miss him when he is gone

Seems like the Packers have botched this relationship in just about every way possible

Ticked off at the end of their careers due to no weapons and the Packers replacing them with 1st round picks when they were still playing at a very high level

This seems like an odd hill for Rodgers to die on
