- US President Donald Trump was due to make a televised address to the nation on Monday after days of anti-racism protests against police brutality that have erupted into violence.

The White House announced that the president would make remarks imminently after he has been criticized for not publicly addressing in the crisis in recent days.

Only 33% of those polled said they approve of the response by former Vice President Joe Biden, but his unfavorables were lower than that of Trump (25%).

45% of registered voters think Trump is doing a poor job of addressing the situation.

When asked “are you more or less likely to vote for President Trump or Joe Biden as a result of George Floyd’s death and subsequent protests,” 45% said they are more likely to vote for Biden, with 31% more likely to vote for Trump.

The CBS News survey was conducted by YouGov using a nationally representative sample of 2,071 individuals; the Morning Consult poll had a national sample of more than 1,600 registered voters.

When asked about the pandemic, only 32% of CBS News poll respondents said they thought the policies of the Trump administration have protected them from getting the coronavirus.
